Stoic at present – losing a grandfather, a roommate, and a purpose

Posted on January 21, 2012

Poppy is in hospice care and they say he is not much longer for this world.

When he is gone…I will have lost a grandfather, a roommate, and a purpose.

For the last five years it has been my purpose to care for him. For the last 8 or 9 months it has been my full-time job. To me this loss isn’t just a sad family tragedy, it is a life changing event. And if you know me at all you know…I do not like change.

I am stoic at present. Unmoved by grief. Or at least I am trying to be but jolts of reality find their way in by small avenues like passing thoughts of peanut butter M&Ms (his favorite candy).
